Academic Decathlon Makes Historic State Qualification in Inaugural Year

In its first year of existence, the Waterford Academic Decathlon team didn’t just compete—they excelled. The five-member squad captured a staggering 20 individual ribbons, with every student-athlete placing in the top three of at least one of the ten events. Next stop is state at Green Bay!

How Waterford Union High School’s Global Competency Class Bridges School and Community

The Global Competency curriculum at WUHS isn't just about theory; it’s about tangible community impact. This year, students moved beyond the classroom to tackle diverse projects that benefited neighbors of all ages:

  • Literacy Advocacy: In collaboration with Mrs. Gutknecht at WGSD and the WUHS Library Staff, students organized school-wide reading contests to foster a culture of lifelong learning.

  • Intergenerational Connection: Students visited Waterford Senior Living to lead lessons on staying active, bridging the gap between generations through health and wellness.

  • Public Service: By assisting the Waterford Public Library with holiday programming, students gained experience in event coordination and public relations.

Toy for Tots Drive

Your generosity made this year’s National Honor Society holiday toy drive a huge success. Together, we collected 92 toys for Toys for Tots, helping brighten the season for children in our area.

Additionally, our Miracle Minute Campaign raised an incredible $755, all of which has been donated to the MACC Fund to support their vital work in childhood cancer research.

State Theater Performance!

The WUHS Theatre Production students had an absolutely incredible 24 hours at the WISDAA State Theatre Festival at UW Stevens Point! We are thrilled to announce that their show, The Sweet Science of Bruising, was a major success, earning top awards across all categories and winning 5 acting awards.

Transcripted Credit

Thank you, Gateway Technical College, for your continued partnership! During the 2024-2025 school year, we saved our students $299,125.72 through transcripted credit courses; 551 students were enrolled.

Past Yearbooks for Sale!

We’re doing some serious "spring cleaning" of our archives and have a huge collection of old yearbooks ready for a new home! Want to snag a piece of school history and relive your glory days? We have books dating all the way back to the 1950s! Get yours for just $10! Fill out the form to grab a copy.

Trick or Can?!

Sometime this week or weekend, during daytime hours, you may get a plastic grocery bag and flyer hung on your doorknob letting you know how you can donate.

DECA students will be picking up bags with donated food items on your porches during our community Trick-or-Treat times. 

Class of 2026 Senior Sunrise

The Senior Sunrise event, hosted by the Student Council, will take place on September 2nd at 6am. The event will be located on the hill above the student lot. There will be coffee, donuts, and juice provided.

Grant Awarded to FFA Chapter

The Waterford FFA Chapter received a $400 grant from Mutual of Wausau Insurance Corporation! This generous support was used for our Ag Adventure Day this year, where we introduced K-8 students to agriculture and FFA programs.

Thank you Aurora for hosting our HOSA students! 

Charging Now Available at WUHS

We are excited to now have charging stations available at WUHs! This project cost the district $0, and we will receive a portion of the profit from Blink, who installed and will manage the machines. Make sure to check them out in the parking lot off Main Street.

New Athletic Scoreboard Sponsors!

We are celebrating the completion of the first fundraising phase for new campus-wide scoreboards! Since the start of the school year, the community rallied to raise $40,000, which will fund new scoreboards for the soccer field, baseball diamond, main gym, auxiliary gym, and a portable softball scoreboard. The next phase will focus on updating the football field scoreboard. 

FFA Career Development Competition

Last Friday, we took a trip to Madison Technical College to participate in the first round of the Wisconsin State FFA Career
Development Competitions. The results are in!!!

WSMA High School State Honors Project

Jonah Klingsten (Mixed Choir) and Kyleigh Mingus (Treble Choir) have been selected from 1,100 student auditions for 429 positions in five ensembles for the WSMA High School State Honors Project!

Cheer is Heading to State

Our Waterford Cheer team, which co-oped with East Troy this year, is heading to state in Deforest this weekend! Even more exciting, Aurora Williams will be showcasing her All-State performance

Improv Night

Our improv night is coming up, and our students hope to see you there! Saturday, February 22 at 6:30pm in the WUHS LGI.

HOSA Club

Thank you to the Racine Gateway campus for allowing our HOSA club to visit and learn more about the health care programs available as well as network with local professionals in the health care field. 

Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Huge congrats to Akira Hancock on winning TWO Silver Key awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition! Her incredible artwork will be on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum from February 1st to March 16th.

Open Gym- Girls Soccer

State Performance Excels

This weekend, our Theater Production team presented The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane at the state competition, and they did not disappoint.

First Class of CNA Students

Our first CNA class has completed its coursework AND clinicals! This new program has been a huge asset to our students, as they are now ready to obtain their CNA licensure.

CHASE Volunteering

CHASE students volunteered at the Waterford Place (Senior Living) where they gave some residents manicures! We love seeing our students out in the community.

PACK Challenge Team

We would like to showcase our PACK Challenge team that traveled to Italy and Switzerland to visit a variety of companies to learn about engineering in the packaging industry.

CHASE Club

CHASE completed 2735 hours of volunteer work as a club this school year. Most ever in Waterford history!

Clothing Drive

Our National Honor Society collected nearly 100 bags of clothing to support the Burlington Salvation Army and those in need!
