Waterford High School is set to host its annual Veterans Day event on Wednesday, November 11th, commencing at 10:00 am. We invite all veterans to join us for this ceremony. We encourage WUHS students with a veteran relative to extend an invitation to them for the event. During the assembly, veterans will be collectively acknowledged, and following the program, lunch will be served for the students and their veteran guests.

The work in the old Mapleview section continues. The mechanical room received a total upgrade with new building controls, new piping throughout the tunnels, new plumbing, and new electrical panels. This week, we are also getting the fire suppression system installed, which is exciting since our current building has only one sprinkler head. We will also be getting a new fire monitoring and alarm system.

We are excited to announce Jim McClowry, CMAA, as Waterford Union High School’s new Athletics and Activities Director, starting July 1!

Jim brings over 30 years of leadership experience across Wisconsin, including being named a two-time Wisconsin Athletic Director of the Year. McClowry is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator with a diverse background as a high school and collegiate teacher and coach.

Thank you to Beck's Family Farm for hosting the Ag Adventure Day with our FFA students. Over 400 elementary students were able to learn about different aspects of agriculture. 

Congratulations to to Academic Decathlon students on their recent success at state! 

• Brandon Serkowski (Sophomore): Achieved the highest overall score in Wisconsin, a feat no sophomore has accomplished in 24 years. Brandon set two state records and tied a third with three perfect 1,000-point scores in Art, Social Science, and Speech.

• Madeline Hansen (Junior): Permanently entered the Wisconsin state record books with a perfect 1,000-point score in the Varsity Interview division.

• Elite Rankings: Our decathletes, including Emma Bosch, Norberto Moreno, and Isabelle Lowry, consistently placed in the top 10 across disciplines like Economics, Mathematics, Literature, and Music.

11 Waterford DECA members competed in the Wisconsin DECA State Career Development Conference. Waterford DECA was recognized and given a plaque for our Trick-or-Can Food Drive/Community Service event.

Waterford Union High School freshman Claire Freeze has been nominated as the first Teen of Impact for the Milwaukee American Heart Association! Claire is entering a nationwide competition to raise awareness and funds to fight cardiovascular disease—a cause that hits home as heart disease risk factors are rising among young people.

We had students compete in the SkillsUSA Regional competition and we had three award winners, all in the Technical Drafting category: Logan Malone got first place, Logan Klein got second place, and Aidan Malone got third place!

A massive thank you to Mr. Joe Datka and his Woodworking & Construction Technology students for building this incredible custom table for the Norway Fire Department! It's a unique piece that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Under the leadership of Dr. Craig Kohn, a renowned science educator and researcher, WUHS students are using DIY spectrometers to measure electromagnetic radiation. In its first year of existence, the Waterford Academic Decathlon team didn’t just compete—they excelled. The five-member squad captured a staggering 20 individual ribbons, with every student-athlete placing in the top three of at least one of the ten events. Next stop is state at Green Bay!

Waterford Union High School is proud to celebrate the achievements of junior Rylie Kranich, who was recently awarded first place in the 2025 Wisconsin Newspaper Association (WNA) Foundation Civics Games Editorial Writing Contest.

The Global Competency curriculum at WUHS isn't just about theory; it’s about tangible community impact. This year, students moved beyond the classroom to tackle diverse projects that benefited neighbors of all ages:

• Literacy Advocacy: In collaboration with Mrs. Gutknecht at WGSD and the WUHS Library Staff, students organized school-wide reading contests to foster a culture of lifelong learning.

• Intergenerational Connection: Students visited Waterford Senior Living to lead lessons on staying active, bridging the gap between generations through health and wellness.

• Public Service: By assisting the Waterford Public Library with holiday programming, students gained experience in event coordination and public relations.

The WUHS Theatre Production students had an absolutely incredible 24 hours at the WISDAA State Theatre Festival at UW Stevens Point! We are thrilled to announce that their show, The Sweet Science of Bruising, was a major success, earning top awards across all categories and winning 5 acting awards.

WUHS is proud to receive once again a ranking of Exceeding Expectations from the state report card. 

Thank you, Gateway Technical College, for your continued partnership! During the 2024-2025 school year, we saved our students $299,125.72 through transcripted credit courses; 551 students were enrolled.

We’re doing some serious "spring cleaning" of our archives and have a huge collection of old yearbooks ready for a new home! Want to snag a piece of school history and relive your glory days? We have books dating all the way back to the 1950s! Get yours for just $10! Fill out the form to grab a copy.

Sometime this week or weekend, during daytime hours, you may get a plastic grocery bag and flyer hung on your doorknob letting you know how you can donate.

DECA students will be picking up bags with donated food items on your porches during our community Trick-or-Treat times. 

We are very excited to announce Emma Bosch, Senior, is a Semi-Finalist for the 2025-2026 National Merit Scholarship Program! 

The Senior Sunrise event, hosted by the Student Council, will take place on September 2nd at 6am. The event will be located on the hill above the student lot. There will be coffee, donuts, and juice provided.

The Waterford FFA Chapter received a $400 grant from Mutual of Wausau Insurance Corporation! This generous support was used for our Ag Adventure Day this year, where we introduced K-8 students to agriculture and FFA programs.

 All students participating in athletics and activities must be cleared by the Athletic and Activities Department prior to participating in tryouts/practice or events.

We are excited to now have charging stations available at WUHs! This project cost the district $0, and we will receive a portion of the profit from Blink, who installed and will manage the machines. Make sure to check them out in the parking lot off Main Street.

We are celebrating the completion of the first fundraising phase for new campus-wide scoreboards! Since the start of the school year, the community rallied to raise $40,000, which will fund new scoreboards for the soccer field, baseball diamond, main gym, auxiliary gym, and a portable softball scoreboard. The next phase will focus on updating the football field scoreboard.

Last Friday, we took a trip to Madison Technical College to participate in the first round of the Wisconsin State FFA Career
Development Competitions. The results are in!!!

Solution Tree recently recognized Waterford Union High School for its sustained success in raising student achievement; the District's successful implementation of the Professional Learning Communities at Work process was a significant contributing factor to its students' improved achievement. Huge congrats to Akira Hancock on winning TWO Silver Key awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition! Her incredible artwork will be on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum from February 1st to March 16th.

This weekend, our Theater Production team presented The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane at the state competition, and they did not disappoint.

Our first CNA class has completed its coursework AND clinicals! This new program has been a huge asset to our students, as they are now ready to obtain their CNA licensure.

CHASE students volunteered at the Waterford Place (Senior Living) where they gave some residents manicures! We love seeing our students out in the community.

We are please to announce we were ranked the #1 Public High School in Racine county. Our staff also ranked #12 out of 486 for Best Public High School Teachers in Wisconsin, putting them in the top 2%. 

We would like to showcase our PACK Challenge team that traveled to Italy and Switzerland to visit a variety of companies to learn about engineering in the packaging industry.

For the first time ever, Waterford Union High School will be sending a student to the Youth Leadership Forum in Madison, Wisconsin!

Our National Honor Society collected nearly 100 bags of clothing to support the Burlington Salvation Army and those in need! 

Advanced Painting and Advanced Drawing students just finished up the very extensive unit for The Memory Project!
